The title of this video by Joe Pease comes from this essay – yhoo.it/IBn2mK – which contains paragraphs such as, “It is not uncommon for children to play with their shadows or to imagine that they are tangible. However, in order to grow up, children must leave behind this fantasy…no one ever fully grows up. Instead, growing up is a process that continues throughout life.” Of course, it might just be a bunch of shadows. Music by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

Lego: Drugs are like that

von Bodicker 12.Mai 2012 MUSIK Kommentieren

This anti-drug educational film was created in the late 1970’s and narrated by famous straight-arrow Anita Bryant. Two school aged children discuss what they know about drugs while putting together a monstrous LEGO creation which ultimately functions as a motorized metaphor for the evils of tinkering with your physcial and mental health by experimenting with dangerous and illegal chemicals. Also serves as a warning to the many people who are actually addicted – not to any pharmaceutical – but to little bits of interlocking plastic. When they say “drugs are like THAT” they’re talking about the LEGO. You’ve been warned.

This version of “Drugs are Like That” has been edited to removed the various PSA’s that were originally inserted throughout the film and illustrated the various points about drugs the kids were making in their conversation. The full length version of this film in all it’s mind-numbing riotously funny glory can be found at the Prelinger Archives (www.archive.org) by way of the A/V Geeks (www.avgeeks.com)

P.S. Be sure to watch the credits that have been uploaded as a separate file.
