Oha! Die Drum and Bass Szene hat einen neuen “Skandal” und die Nachricht darüber verbreitet sich wie ein Lauffeuer. Hospital Records Artist Mistabishi Faked seine DJ Gigs mit vorproduzierten Mix CDs!

The rumours are true. Mistabishi is a complete and utter fake.
I went to Bassment presents Hospitality @ Bar Mango in Reading last night and it was awesome. High Contrast and Logistics both played wicked sets, i was having a great time until i went up to the balcony (which overlooks the DJ booth) at the beginning of Mistabishi’s set and watched him play a mix CD on a CDJ and prick about pressing buttons for a whole hour!
I litterally couldn’t believe my eyes!! He put vinyl on the decks then pretended to mix them…even though it was the same 2 vinyl the whole night! How do i know? Because i watched him take a vinyl off a turntable, put it in his bag, get it BACK out then put it on the other turn table and pretend to mix it!
The guy spent so much time dancing like a penis behind the decks in not supprised he couldnt mix. It’s annoyed me a little bit because the Bassment guys work so hard to put nights on and with the exception of Mistabishi it was a wicked night!
Let this be a lesson to all you promoters out there, he charges hundreds of pounds to turn up and play a mixed cd.
Shout out to the Bassment family.

Und von da an war die gesamte D&B Gemeinde in Aufruhr, da es sich dabei auch nicht um das erste Mal handelte das Mistabishi so etwas abzog.
Nachdem es so richtig am rollen war, entschied sich Mistabishi dazu einen “Entschuldigungs”-Post zu verfassen, der aber irgendwie das Ziel verfehlte:
i’m just a raver that somehow got the chance to make tunes for people whose music i really loved from places like Rollers Warehouse / Sanctuary miltonkeyenes, Labyrinth Hackney, Hardware /End and Warning / Junction (broke a knuckle on my right hand in that fucking place!) and Hospitality nights. sorry if the dj’ing side of things snarled things up for people but all i really wanted to do was rave tbh, and more recently, go to raves where my tunes were getting played. that was the best thing about the whole experience recently anyway for me. hearing my tunes out loud with my mates.
i take very few bookings, and the only ones i want to take until i’m as happy about *the sound* of a vinyl dj set as i am about the *the sound* of my tunes, are ones with my multitrack and synth, or the occasional one where the promoter simply wants me regardless.

i can beat match just fine. i just don’t see the excessive merit in it that people like you obviously give to it. i’ve played vinyl only sets where i’ve had to beat match things. largely because i’ve been forced to. i’ve also played sets with nothing more than a single cd and spent the whole hour on the phone. on both occasions i played the records i make and they have the desired effect on those that dance to them. i might piss off the mouth breathing gawpers at the front who desperately want to be doing what i’m doing but i’ve never been that kind of person, and would never make a record for that kind of person.
Sogar das Mixmag widmete sich dem Ganzen und nach einem Gespräch mit Hospital Records sollen die mit dem Gedanken spielen Mistabishi raus zu werfen.
Ja Ja die Drum&Bass Szene immer für ein bisschen Drama zu haben

Tja so läufts halt in der modernen digitalen zeit. Vom Produzieren allein kommt nicht mehr genügend Geld rein, da alles nur noch illegal gesaugt oder via YouTube und Konsorten gehört wird, was soll man als Produzent dann anderes machen.
Das was noch Geld in die Kassen bringt sind halt DJ-Gigs, nur in einer stark DJing orientierten Szene wie beim Drum&Bass sollte man sich so eine Aktion schon zwei mal überlegen, man sieht ja an obrigen Beispiel was man damit erntet.
Genauso unfair, seitens der DJ Kollegen, ist es aber auch wenn diese ihre Playlists bei einem Gig nicht ausfüllen und somit die Produzenten der Scheiben die sie aufgelegt haben nicht entlohnt werden (können). Da läuft so einiges schief in der Szene.
Naja, es ist nur ein Skandal, weil es “Beweise” dafür gibt. Letztlich kommt es doch darauf an, dass das Publikum – die heißgeliebte Crowd – etwas zum Tanzen serviert bekommt.
Natürlich regt sich die Konkurrenz – die Szene – darüber auf. Ich finde es auch nicht schön, wenn man hinters Licht geführt wird.
Allerdings spricht die Ehrlichkeit in dem Posting: “phone’s on if you wanna chat about it” – ist doch in Ordnung
Bei komplett vor-produzierten Sets und einer “DJ-Choreographie” hörts aber wirklich auf. Wenns nur darum geht den bekannten Artist auf dem Flyer zu haben, könnte dieser ja auch einfach mal seinen iPod anschliessen und seine Playlist abspielen…
Naja nevermind. Die Jungs von Hospital sind aber auch geil! Auf der Artist Seite von Mistabishi:
“Mistabishi is NOT available to DJ at your wedding, bar mitzvah or D+B Clubnight.”
